Solar Panel Cleaning in McKinney

We wash your panels with deionized water and soft brushes, never a pressure washer, so the glass coating stays intact. Before we leave, we compare your inverter readings and show you what the cleaning changed. Then we explain how to keep the array clean between visits.

What a Proper Panel Cleaning Does for Your System

A solar cell only produces what the light reaching it allows. A film of dust, pollen or bird droppings scatters that light before it gets through the glass. A single heavy spot can shade one cell enough that the bypass diode cuts out the whole string section it protects. That is why a few droppings can cost more output than an even layer of dust.

North Texas rain does not fix this on its own. Water runs down the tilted glass and collects along the lower frame lip. When it dries, it leaves a band of grime across the bottom row of cells. Spring pollen and summer dust bake onto hot glass and stick harder each week.

We clean the array, check it while we are up there, and come back to the numbers afterward. If your output was low for reasons cleaning cannot fix, we tell you that plainly and point you to our solar repair service.

What Every Cleaning Includes

  1. 01

    Before readings

We note production from your inverter or monitoring app before we touch the glass. That gives us a baseline to compare against when the job is done.

  2. 02

    Deionized water rinse

We use purified water with the minerals filtered out. Tap water leaves calcium spots as it dries, and those spots block light much like the dirt we just removed.

  3. 03

    Soft-bristle brushing

Water-fed brushes with soft bristles lift baked-on pollen and droppings without scratching the anti-reflective coating. We do not use pressure washers, scrapers or household detergents, which can strip that coating or force water past frame seals.

  4. 04

    Frame edge and lower lip

We work the bottom edge of each module where grime collects after rain. This is the band that shades the lowest row of cells.

  5. 05

    Visual check with photos

While we clean, we look for cracked glass, loose or sagging wiring, damaged connectors and signs of nesting under the array. Anything we see is photographed and shown to you.

Signs Your Panels Need Cleaning

  • Output drops with clear skies

If your app shows sunny-day production running below the same months a year ago, dirty glass is a quick cause to check before anyone starts testing wiring or components.

  • A dirt line along the bottom edge

A visible brown band at the lower frame means rain has been carrying grime down and leaving it there.

  • Bird droppings on the glass

Droppings create hard shade on individual cells. They rarely wash off in rain and get harder to remove the longer they sit.

  • Yellow film after pollen season

Spring pollen settles as a fine coat that sticks once the morning dew dries it onto the glass.

  • Nearby construction or bare fields

New building and tilled ground put a lot of fine dust in the air, and your panels collect it steadily.

How the Visit Goes

  1. 1

    Talk it through by phone

Tell us about your system size, roof layout and what your monitoring shows. We set a time, usually early in the day when the glass is cool.

  2. 2

    Baseline and setup

We record your current production and set up the water system on the ground. Cool glass matters because cold water on panels at full summer heat can stress the glass.

  3. 3

    Clean and inspect

We rinse, brush and rinse again, working module by module. As we go, we check wiring, connectors and the space under the array, and photograph anything worth your attention.

  4. 4

    Compare and explain

We read your production again, walk you through the photos, and explain what to watch in your app and how often cleaning makes sense for your setup.

  5. 5

    Follow-up check

We check back with you after the visit to look at your production numbers together. If something looks off, we sort out whether it is soiling, shading or a component issue.

What Affects the Price of a Cleaning

We price each cleaning as a single job. The two biggest variables are the number of modules on your roof and the effort it takes to reach them safely. Once we know your system, we give you the price by phone before anything goes on the calendar.

Number of panels
Every module gets its own rinse, brush pass and final rinse. A large array simply takes longer to work through than a compact one.
Roof pitch and height
A steep roof or a two-story home needs more setup and fall protection than a single-story layout.
How dirty the glass is
A first cleaning after years of buildup, or heavy droppings, takes longer than a routine visit.
Critter guard or debris removal
Clearing leaves or nesting material from under the array adds time beyond cleaning the glass itself.

Panel Cleaning Questions

Can I just hose off my panels myself?

You can rinse lightly from the ground with a garden hose, and it helps with loose dust. The risk is climbing the roof, using tap water that spots as it dries, or scrubbing with something that scratches the coating. Pressure washers can damage the frame seals.

How often should panels be cleaned here?

Many systems do well with one or two cleanings a year, often after spring pollen and again in late summer. Homes near construction, fields or trees with birds may need more. Your production data is the best guide, and we show you what to watch for.

Will cleaning affect my warranty?

We use soft brushes and purified water with no harsh chemicals, which is the kind of cleaning most panel makers describe in their care guides. If we installed your system, it is covered by our 10-year workmanship warranty on solar.

What if cleaning does not bring my output back?

Then the cause is something else, such as a failed connector, a weak optimizer or a new shade source. We tell you what we saw and can set up a visit through our solar repair service.

How long have you been doing this work?

We have been in business 5 years, serving McKinney and nearby towns like Allen, Frisco and Prosper. We are BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, and every cleaning ends with the same before-and-after readings described above.

Clear Glass, Measured Results

Give us a rough panel count and a sense of what your monitoring app has been reporting. We will quote the cleaning over the phone and book an early slot while the glass is still cool.
